The Client has recently purchased a lovely little cottage with lots of potential, the intention being to rent it out as a holiday home. The brief was to take out the old gas fire and install a log burner. The stove selected here was a Franco Belge Belfort 4.9kw of heat and Multi fuel.
The original Gas fire.
After sweeping and unblocking the chimney the next job was to remove the old unsuitable chimney pots and terminals and replace with new.
The Liner has now been installed after some tests. The disused bedroom chimney is capped with a teracotta fluevent to allow the chimney to breathe but also keep the birds from getting in and blocking it
Stove placed and liner down the chimney.
We suggested that to maximise space in the cottage a log store could be built underneath. To do this some reclaimed bricks were used for the pillars and a slate shelf cut and fitted.
A steel register plate and frame is fitted The liner is trimmed and the stove is connected up.
After checking all the seals are tight and everything is working as it should The stove is commissioned with the customer.
New Hearth fitted 300mm in fro,nt of stove
Top of both chimneys complete with correct terminals.
